How Patterns of Reactions are actually brain science
How Patterns of Reactions are actually brain science.
When you react to a situation, you’re acting automatically out of habit and the way you were trained. But you can choose to respond in a more positive way that brings the results you want.
I want to tell you a quick story about a Marine and how he reacted to a certain scenario.
One day a friend of a former Marine walked up behind the former Marinewho had just returned from two tours of duty in Viet Nam. The vet didn’t hear his friend until he was right behind him. The former Marines training kicked in, and he whirled and started to strike out. Fortunately, he caught himself in time, and his friend apologized profusely for seeming to sneak up on him.
The Marine had spent months in mortal danger, using the survival skills he’d learned, and was still reacting as if he were in the jungle.
We are trained much the same way, and Over time, we learn a certain way of reacting that reflects attitudes, environment, and situations we encounter. As we grow older, we continue those reactions without thinking, just as my marine friend did.
However, we can consciously choose a different way to respond to our current situation. This is the difference between “re-acting” and “responding.” When we “re-act,” we act in the same way, over and over, automatically.
By consciously choosing what kind of result we want, and how we want to feel about ourselves afterwards, we’re “responding” to the situation. Maybe you have heard this saying before Jeff, “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’re always going to get what you’ve always gotten.”
If you continue to react in the same way that you always have, your never going to change and neither will your life. It’s not easy to change these old reaction patterns as in some cases we have had years of training to acquire these patterns,
but it can be done, and we can begin by looking at reactions that aren’t working in our lives.
To change the old patterns permanently, we need to choose our responses, and act on them every time the triggering situation arises. when we react, we need to catch ourselves doing it and immediately change to a new chosen response, the
brain will begin to catch on.
Once we are in a different situation than the one in which we learned to react, we can choose a more positive responses. Responses that bring us the results we want.
Are you ready for the results you want Jeff?
We develop our habits, that’s why successful people become more successful, and those that are unsuccessful will unfortunately remain unsuccessful Until they learn how to change the patterns and habits they have developed over their life.
People admit to buying product after product that guarantees them success and yet they never open them or take any kind of action whatsoever to try and achieve the guaranteed success?
Why is this? What are they reacting to that causes the purchase?
What are we reacting to that causes us to not take action…and to just let the product set on our desktop…or ask for a refund before we even give it a try?
I know there are some very good reasons for this…but we need to take a look at this in a different light and see if we can stop some of our reactions patterns that are keeping us from the success we are meant to achieve.
